Whitesburg Dam was an earthen berm with 15 foot tall by 40 foot wide stone and concrete spillway.
Whitesburg Dam had breached and was declared a hazard. Emergency repairs were performed to slow the downcutting of the river channel into 12 feet of lake bed sediments resulting in an extremely incised channel. Project goals were to construct a series of grade controls that would raise and stabilize the channel invert up 12 feet allowing the lake bed sediments to be used as the floodplain. A step type riffle grade control structure was constructed.
