Meeting Ohio Water Quality Standards With Stream Ecosystem Restoration Projects
August 28 & 29, 2007
This 2-day workshop will help participants predict the ability of different stream restoration designs to meet success criteria defined by Ohio Water Quality Standards. The workshop will cover a variety of topics that will enable the attendees to answer the question: "Can Ohio meet the Clean Water Act goals of use attainment for degraded waters?"

Data will be presented from more than 200 degraded streams in Ohio regarding their impairments and their feasibility for restoration. There will be discussion on how to meet TMDL targets with current habitat criteria such as QHEI. The class will evaluate design plans to determine indicators of predictable and probable success. Restoration practitioners will review available technology for stream restoration.

A guided field trip will take participants to different types of restoration projects for visual comparisons and discussions on available stream restoration techniques such as natural channel design and over-wide ditch concepts.

The workshop will start at 9:00 am and conclude at 4:00 pm both days.

The cost for the 2-day course, which includes lunch and course materials, will be $150. Transportation for field trips will be provided.
